Fake Tina Fey Spreading Misinformation About 30 Rock on Twitter
June 26 Update – The fake Tina Fey account (@tina_fey) has been suspended.
The other day, I blogged about strange activity with Tina Fey’s account on Twitter. This included the recent creation of a clearly fake Tina Fey account on @tina_fey (not be confused with the more popular @NotTinaFey). The @tina_fey account is a great example of why Twitter’s recently announced Verified Accounts feature is needed. A couple of days ago, this fake Tina Fey account sent out a tweet (the tweet has been deleted) declaring that season 4 might be the last season of 30 Rock.
From what I can tell, this statement has absolutely no basis in fact and many people on Twitter are taking it seriously.
6/11/2009 Update:
- Twitter started their beta rollout of Verified Accounts earlier tonight and – no big surprise – @tina_fey is not a verified account.
